I started trying to “do better” when I became pregnant with our first baby 7 years ago (2014). I was deep into my career and also trying to start a business of my own, so I relied heavily on the information provided by companies and large brands that advertised themselves as the “cleanest” or “safest for children”. I was buying organic and getting, what I thought, was the best and safest products for my new baby. I’ll admit, this lifestyle is not for the faint of heart; especially when your journey starts because you are becoming a first-time parent. You will get eye rolls and the famous, “we drank out of the hose and never thought twice about what we ate or what products we use and I’m doing just fine.” (But are you, really?) I hated those conversations. I wanted to be like, “Well, good for you. This is a different time, different world and different exposures than it was back then.”
When you are becoming a parent, it is so hard to figure out what is best. You are constantly being judged. You have so many people trying to tell you how to do things and what to worry about and what isn’t a big deal. It was constantly going through my mind, “Am I being too much? Is this overreacting? Does organic REALLY matter…” Over the next 4 years, I let the world sway me and I became more relaxed about what we were eating and what products I was using for my kids (At the time, 2 girls).
Fast forward to January 2019. I was let go from a dream job, working for the most amazing family/resort and forced into becoming a stay-at-home mom. I was now home with my then, 3 ½ year old and my 7-month-old. At first, I was SOO excited. I had always dreamed of being a stay-at-home mom but never thought it was in the cards for me. Mainly because I know how much I love working. I have always had an entrepreneur mindset and I was so passionate about my career, I never thought I could fully give that up. So, I was going to fully embrace this new SAHM life while it lasted. I decided to pick back up my research on chemicals, toxins and learning about wellness in general. I quickly started reaching for organic again and “clean” household products. Once again, I thought I was doing well by getting all my trendy Mrs. Meyers seasonal cleaning products from my Grove subscription and getting “better” food choices from Publix. Well, round two, here I was, being “green washed” AGAIN. But, at this point, Young Living was on my radar. I was watching that company closely and paying attention to the people sharing it. In March of 2019, I asked someone if they would send me a bottle of the Thieves Household Cleaner. I was not ready to commit to the company so she was more than willing to send it my way!
April 17, 2019, we moved our family from Birmingham, AL to Woodstock, GA for my husband to take on a new job that would potentially be able to support our family with me staying home full-time, forever; If I wanted to. Due to moving and lots of summer travels, 2019 quickly got away from me. Once life started to settle back down in August, I really started to dive into clean living and educating myself. This quickly became my “job” when I wasn’t busy with the girls. I was constantly reading new articles & books, watching documentaries, learning all the things I could find on chemicals and toxins. I was MIND BLOWN by the things I was finding. How in the world can these chemicals be allowed in our products?! What does the FDA ACTUALLY do?!
In my research I landed on four main categories: Diet, Exercise, Toxins & Stress Management. These four areas were going to become the focus of our lifestyle.
Over the next few years, I started working through my house and removing toxins one at a time. I wanted to make sure I was controlling the areas that I could, so I didn’t have to worry so much in the areas I couldn’t control. I ditched all of our candles and started diffusing. I transitioned our laundry products to dryer balls and non-toxic detergents and stain removers. I swapped out all of our cleaning products, personal care products, makeup, bug spray, Dish soap and dish detergent; literally all the things! In this process, I realized I had built up a pretty substantial list of “Trusted” companies that I would get products from. But man did this process get old fast (products from over 30 different companies) … There was no one company that had everything I needed. This was hard because unfortunately, companies change their product ingredients all the time and do not have to tell their customers there was a change. Just because they have a chemical free body wash, does not mean their lotion is chemical free too. It was so frustrating. I did not have the time or the energy to keep doing this; I needed an easy button… This is where Young Living came in.
By April of 2020 (in the middle of a pandemic) I was OVER IT. This was way too hard to manage and I knew there was an easier option. Young Living had now been on my radar for over a year and I was ready. I dover deep into the Young Living websites learning their values and all about their products. They had everything I needed! They were going to be my “easy button”!
May 2020, I bought my Starter Kit. I landed with Young Living because it was a one-stop shop for everything I needed in my home to keep my family safe and more toxic-free. Not to mention how incredible their oils really are. I tried other companies that were very good oil companies (not ones you can buy in a store; PLEASE do not buy your oils from Target, Walmart, TJ MAXX, Homegoods, etc.). After using Young Living’s oils, I saw such a difference. Not to mention the difference in the smells. Once you really become an oil user you can really smell the difference in a clean, pure oil. Young Living’s Seed-to-Seal promise includes three pillars– Source, Science & Standards– which is unmatched by any other company in the world and is a core reason why I chose Young Living. You can ready more about their promise at www.seedtoseal.com
Young Living offers clean, toxic free products for the entire home. From Essential Oils, to personal care products such as make-up, lotions, shampoo, conditioner, baby products, kid products, supplements, dietary supplements, animal products, cooking products, cleaning products, and so much more!
If you know me, you know how much of my heart was in the event industry. When I became a stay-at-home mom, I never thought I would fill that void in my heart that I had from leaving my career. Then I realized how much of my time I was dedicating to researching healthy lifestyles and discovered I was just as passionate about this as I was about events, maybe even more!! My passion has always been with people and helping them create happy, unforgettable moments in life; this is no different. The fulfillment I feel when I help someone now is for a lifetime, not just a moment in time and that is what drives me. I love seeing happy people and I love seeing them grow in their wellness journey. It was a long road for me, but I hope my story inspires you to start researching and learning more about low-tox living TODAY. Don’t wait.. Your future is shaped by your decisions today; make them count!
I spent a full year and a half, helping people transition toxins out of their home and educating them on Young Living Products but started feeling my heart pulling me to do more… Then, The Dr. Sears Wellness Institute showed up in one of my Google searches and I read where I could become a Certified Health Coach that would be recognized internationally! I was STOKED!! I read more into his programs and certifications and found that his philosophy stood on four main pillars, Lifestyle, Exercise, Attitude & Nutrition! WHAT?!? This is basically exactly where I had landed with my health beliefs so I look at that as a sign that this is exactly where I was supposed to be. I talked with Connally and registered for the certification course. I completed the Course and passed my Health Coach Certification exam in December 2021.
My girls are my why. I want to be better for them. I want to make sure I am giving them the best and that they will not be held back because of lifestyle chooses we taught them. I want to make sure I am teaching them good habits for their future. I also want to make sure I am staying healthy myself. I want to make sure I am doing everything I can to be my best, mentally and physically. I will not let my products and food slow me down or age me faster than time already does.
I have a strong desire to help people right where they are. I want to be a safe place for you to come with all your questions. I want to be here for you. Helping people find better choices towards a cleaner, healthier lifestyle is my passion. My goal is to educate and empower people to take charge of their health & wellness so that I can help guide them towards optimal health.
